Laugh and breathe
Walking simulator
This poem emerged from writing exercises conducted in the ‘fRiction elective’ at The Royal College of Art, where we were encouraged to abstract from our daily routines. After a particularly invigorating walk home, I realized how essential this simple act was for my well-being and thought it might be worthwhile to make it a ritual. A ritual to breathe deeply, laugh freely, and wander aimlessly, without a set destination. This seemingly trivial walk brought me unexpected contentment and joy.
With this piece, I hope to inspire the reader to carve out a moment for themselves, whether alone or with a friend, to take a pause each day and embrace a slower pace. In our 21st-century world, where overworking is often mistaken for diligence, sometimes all we need is a 20-minute evening stroll. In this experience, you can explore at your own pace, marveling at towering skyscrapers or climbing a beanstalk standing beside them—allowing yourself to wander freely and find solace in the journey.
P o e m
I had a good day
and I am gonna have a better night,
I am gonna go home, go for a walk and take a flight,
To a land that should belongs to no one and anyone,
I am gonna walk in the middle of the road at Holders Hill crescent.
So will you join me in this expedition?
Let's laugh and take a deep breath.
No let's run around in circles, panting, dying for a breath.
Let's dig deep and deeper into that depth,
Cuz You know how we have a hole where dump our emotional shit,
You know how we hide ourselves from ourselves a little bit.
So come let's live a little,
Jeez I need to write down this thought,
You know just incase I forgot,
It's moment like these that make me wanna live.
Because, It's moments like these that make me wanna live.
And, its moments like these that...
Make me wanna,
live.
